For many years people have witnessed the presence of a lrage prehistoric 'monster' within the waters of Loch Ness. This went largely unexplained until 1974, when the BBC revealed in their scientific programme 'Dr Who' that it was infact a cybernetic organism controlled by the Zygons from planet Zog, which they were using in a foolhardy attempt to take over the world.

Some are yet to be convinced however, and maintain that the creature has been left over from the last Ice-Age, and is very real indeed. Many of these people also sell fluffy monsters in gift shops situated around the Loch Ness area.

Nessie Facts

The first person on record to have seen Nessie is Saint Columba on a trip from Dalriada to meet the Pictish King in Inverness.

Viz comic once showed you how to create your own 'Nessie' pictures using a snorkle, a broomhandle and a stuffed sock.

Nessie has also been featured, along with his family, on the popular cartoon series 'The Family Ness'. Popular that is, until they decided to dub it into Gaelic.

There are around 15 reported sightings of Nessie each year, unfortunately, only a few people have had the foresight to take a camera on their trip to the Loch.

Although many books have been written on the subject, to date there has been no conclusive proof as to the existance of the Loch Ness Monster one way or the other. Until the monster is captured, or the Loch drained completely, public opinion will remain divided on the possibility of the existance of the worlds most unique creature.
